I am probably well out of the loop, but just learned that Radiohead's new 'album' comes out tomorrow without the use of a record label. It is only available for purchase or download from Radiohead.com, and while the price is fixed for physical media versions, you set the price for the download! Pay what you want, and FREE is an option!
Trent Reznor also announced that Nine Inch Nails' next album will be released without a record label, but he hasn't figured out exactly how yet.
What do you think? Will this be the way of the future, and the record labels and iTunes will be in big trouble? Or will this be a big flop? |
