Welcome to AK Spire
Blue tarps are actually considered a roofing material up here. Another comical sight that is more common around Valdez, but can be found nearly everywhere, is when people actually build roofs over the top of their single wide trailers. Sort of a car port for their mobile home. They feel the need to do this to keep the roofs from caving in on them due to the heavy snow loads. The thing is, I've seen people make the roofs so heavy duty that they could have probably built themselves a whole house for about 30 percent more, guess they just didn't want to move.
The newer diesels like yours definitely get better mpg, mines 11yrs old and I just couldn't justify spending 40k for a new one The FJ is supposed to get about 19mpg on the hwy, but I'll believe that when I see it. _________________
