I have my drives in RAID 0 with four partitions. 4x120gb
+/- sizes..
1. OS 20gb
2. Appz 120 gb
3. Media(storage) 320gb
4. Swapfile 8gb
Even when I run a single large drive I partition to keep things seperate. You gotta be about stupid to only have one partition with a huge drive, keeping everything together.. One virus or malware problem and you lose everything if you have to reformat...
Always, and I mean always install the OS, drivers and essential appz on one drive/partition, then applications and/or saved media files/backups/etc on another drive or partition or two..
Another thing that helps is setting up a dedicated partition for the Pagefile/Swapfile. 4GB is all 32bit Windows can recognize, set size to Initial=4096 and Max=4096. Once the dedicated partition is set, remove the Swap/Pagefile from the drive that has the OS. |
