The proposed setup I was looking for is like so:

Wall --> Linksys Wireless Router --> Linksys Switch --> All wired stuff

What I want to know is will that work properly and will the data transfer between hardware directly plugged into the switch run at Gigabit speeds or will the data have to go to the switch, then to the router, then back to the switch, then to the destination limiting to 100Mbps (router max speed)?

Hope I'm not being too confusing...

The switch should handle all the traffic for the wired devices at full speed without running through the route, and the router can handle DHCP/DNS/NAT for both.
I do have a question about how your gaming friends are served.......wireless? or wired? Depending on the model your router/FIREWALL may NOT protect you from any problems introduced (accidentally or deliberately Sad ) by the gamers you allow on your LAN/WLAN/GAN.
I'd consider a second router/NAT box (wired or wireless), usually not that much more expensive than a switch alone if you shop around, and better protection for YOUR data from that guy down the hall playing a prank or visiting certain websites unprotected. Yikes
