Knight is definitely right. Format and re-install windows if you can. If you can't there is a program out there that removes all the Dell bloatware. It's called dell decr@pifier for something like that.

I have an e1505 and they are also right about your memory. You likely have 2x512Mb because the e1505 requires 2 memory sticks to run in "dual channel" mode. If you want to go up to 2gb you will need to buy 2 x 1gb memory modules. You can check to make sure just by removing the cover on the bottom of the laptop that's marked C/M. It's right in the middle and has a bunch of vent holes in it.

What video card do you have? There are some overclocking options available for the Radeon x1400, but I'm not sure about the other cards.

Best bang for the buck ............ format and re-install Windows, just be careful not to change the partitions unless you want to get rid of the media direct option. (I personally wiped it of my e1505 because it wasn't any faster/easier than just booting into window)


ps. I've been running Vista RC1 on my e1505 for about a month now and it's running quite smoothly.
