@Above: Try using www.sysinternals.com process explorer. It blows task manager out of the water. The system info panel from process explorer is also much better. Additionally, you can go to google and get definitions for all the stuff you don't understand (do define: commit charge and etc.) You can use 3dmark06 to compare your system to other systems and HDTach is a good baseline, though not the definitive authority. Finally, if you want to eliminate some overhead from windows, you can use Litestep but only if you're fairly conversant with your computer. I took some time to woork on my system with Litestep and also modified the boot-up screen. Turning my computer on is akin to watching Hackers cause it's not self-evident that it's windows.
