I've seen lots of people get them over 3.0Ghz. What I haven't been sure of is whether or not they're throttling up there.
These things run hot. You need some really good cooling to push over 3.5Ghz and not throttle. Most people are just getting the 3-3.2Ghz out of it from what I've seen.
Of course, if you're going to throw $150-$200 at it to cool it, (like Tom's Hardware did), just to break 3.5Ghz, at that point you might as well just get an Opty 165 and OC that to 2.4-2.6Ghz using the stock heatsink. It puts out less heat, and does the same amount of work as the D 805. |
