I'm getting ready to upgrade my license to "Unlimited Ocean Master" not sure if that means anything to anyone here, but anyway, part of the process is a federal background check (happens every renewal, upgrade). Ever since 9/11 things have gotten pretty intense so I figured I'd check myself out before actually signing everything saying I was a "good guy". As expected, I checked out OK, but I was AMAZED at the amount of information I was able to obtain via the internet and for $50. They listed all my previous addresses, my parents and wifes previous addresses as well as names, addresses and phone numbers of previous occupants and neighbors at those addresses.
I don't know how people feel about this, but I find it slightly unsettling.
