That's the big secret of shipping to AK, no matter what you pay for it ALWAYS goes by air. You can actually drive up here but the road is long and challenging. Consequently, even though FEDEX and UPS offer ground shipping it still comes up via air and unfortunately they charge accordingly. FEDEX actually has a major hub here in Anchorage so you'd think they would be more reasonable with shipping, but business is good so they give us no price breaks.
