But we are talking several areas. Because the way a CPU works, and is made is significantly different than the way you would make memory (be is solid state or not).
Also to support that you would need to make a custom BIOS. And not just different programming, but a different chip, as I would doubt that the BIOSes chips used now would be usable. Plus all the connections (internal connection), there is just a HUGE list of things that would have to be changed or re-invented for the technology that they are saying they have now.
Also, laws of physics are laws of physics. A 7Gig CPU would produce a lot of heat.
And let's not forget about the financial side. It would make little sense to first intro this technology in a laptop. It would make much more sense to do so in a Server where $15K is nothing. You would easily have a much bigger potential customer base, willing to spend more. R&D cost money... LOTS of money. You would never make it back on $15K laptops. |
