For a short time you can do a free upgrade on your Windows XP Pro license to a Windows XP 64 license. Not sure of all the stipulations though. I do know that if you do the upgrade, you can't go back to XP Pro though, so be cautious.
That being said, I am running Windows XP 64, been running it for about 6 months now (yes, legitimately). It's been great for me, not had any issues. Some incompatibility, until the hardware manufacturers get around to releasing 64bit drivers.
Biggest pain in the butt is the Logitech MX1000. There is no 64bit drivers, so it does the same thing it does on XP unless you update to the current release of their Mouseware drivers. It will jump from one point on the screen to the edge of the screen. Very annoying! |
