its true !
SHINNSTON, W.Va.
A camel in Bethlehem doesn't sound that far-fetched. Except when the camel is in the community near Shinnston -- and when it comes into the public eye for taking a seat on a fence painter.

Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene Wednesday of a 1,500-pound camel that had a female fence painter pinned to ground, nipping at her hair, said Brent Hicks, an EMT driver for Harrison County EMS.

"She had her cell phone with her and called 911," Hicks said. "The very personable-type animal did not want the woman to leave."

The landowner assisted emergency personnel in moving the pet off the woman, who was having trouble breathing, Hicks sad.

"During this response our primary goal is scene safety, keeping myself, my partner and fire department responders safe," Hicks said. "Never make it worse than the call actually is."

Shinnston volunteer firefighters also responded with a crew.

"It was an unusual call. There is no protocol on something like this," said Hicks, who also works for the Upshur County Emergency Squad.

The official said it was lucky the woman had a cell phone with her. "We are very grateful things worked out like they did."

Medical personnel would not release the names of the patient or landowner, and attempts to contact both were unsuccessful.
