A female state trooper said she had to remind a Lincoln man that it's never a good idea to hit on a law enforcement official.

Especially when he has just gotten into a car accident and might have had a few too many drinks.

Peter Bradley Murray, 42, of Bagley Mountain Road, Lincoln, was charged early Sunday with operating a vehicle under the influence, assault on a police officer, refusing to submit to arrest, and refusing to sign or give a name.

According to State Trooper Jennifer Fiske, Murray allegedly failed three roadside sobriety tests and refused to take another after she found him standing beside his 1996 Chevy Lumina on Route 116 about a mile from the Chester line at about 1 a.m. Sunday.

And, Fiske said, he got a little fresh.

Fiske said Murray also had urinated on himself, and from his eyes and facial mannerisms, she believed he was intoxicated. Still, he was friendly and cooperative during the tests. It wasn't until they were in her police cruiser that he refused to take a written intoxication test and started behaving inappropriately, making several sexual comments, she said. The cruiser Fiske drove was not equipped with a cage separating the front and back seats, which is why Murray sat in the front passenger seat.
