Well, I for one went with RP HDTV. Hitachi's top-o-the-line 65" (last yr's model) It takes up quite a footprint (roughly 5' x 3') but if ya got a large room to throw it in, it's perfect. I sit about 16-18' away from mine, and it looks fantastic.
A cheap, well-needed calibration would be just what the doctor ordered, too. I calibrated my own with my own Sencore equip. and my picture's perfect. If you had someone come and do it, it would run around $300-$500
And yes, T-shirt's correct. The best HDTV signal is OTA broadcasts. FCC regulates channel bandwidth to 6Mhz max. where-as OTA is "uncompressed" I just got a $90 OTA HDTV antenna and located 6 HDTV broadcast stations nearby from the Toledo area. I'll be KISS testing these and see how it works out one weekend.
If you'd like to find HD channels in your area, check out www.antennaweb.com and look for the "red" channels |
