Credit where credit is due, and I have to say it's good that you tried it, but this is a really nasty mod.

First of all, the two-tone painting is a bit poor. you really needed to do several undercoats of red everywhere, then mask off the flames to get a sharp effect, then several coats of black, THEN many coats of laquer to seal it. Even then I'd be surprised if it didn't peel. The 'flames' are way too rounded, they look finger-painted, lol

Top job for trying, though. I'm not trying to diss you, just offer advice. Can help you if you want to try again Wink

Also: it's not a good idea to blue LED your optic system. Trust me, I'm working on a similar LED/CCD system device in the medical diagnosis field! Replacing the red with blue not only shifts the peak wavelength greatly, but normally the apparent intensity, too, not to mention the viewable angle. Most blue LED's work by having a phosper coating on top, which emits the light -hence, they are much brighter. Too much light will saturate the CCD (optical mice work by taking a 2x2 pixel sigital 'snapshot' many times a second). A saturated signal appears as garbage; that's why a lot of optical mice won't work on shiny or white surfaces. You could combat this by defocussing the LED, or roughing it with some abrasive paper.

How do you find the mouse works, anyhow? hope these comments help you next time Smile
