Guys,
I would like to share some large movie clips (totalling 40gb) with a buddy on the other side of the country.

Features I'm looking for:
- Track file transfer rate
- Schedule transfers for certain hours of the day
- An ability to synch files between the 2 computers
- Secure, user/pass protected
- Free!
- Finally - I'm using a Windows box and my buddy uses a Linux box

The only way I know to accomplish everything I'm looking for is the following:
1. Setup an FTP server on both machines
2. Exchange logins
3. Use free FTP clients to schedule transfers and synch folders of my choosing

Is there a more clear cut way to accomplish the same task?
Should I look more into setting up some sort of a VPN?

THANKS!

Jim
