| DVD Shrink will let you rip movies to your hard drive in DVD formtat, and then you can just play them from the folders. I use Video LAN or Power DVD for playback, not sure about Windows Media Player ... |

I'm not sure if Media Center will play MP4s. Never tried to be honest....
Probably DIvx would be the best, pretty sure it'll play them if you install the Divx codec.
