They could be blocking certain words or sites in the url name, it's what they do at my school. Ttry pinging the site in command prompt and then going via the IP.

Another alternative for this, use something like www.proxify.com

im pretty sure its words that theyre blocking thats wut theyre doing for the email but where would i find the file to do that?

Did someone turn on the parental control thing in IE for you? (Tools, Internet Options, Content)

if there is a password, there are ways of...making that go away...

Is it a piece of software installed? EX: Netnanny
Did they use perentel controls in IE?
Is it a proxy server? (most likely)

What a lot of places do is have all internet in a office connect to one or two reutors/hubs/server whaterver. Then from there to the internet. Then they install a filter such as N2H2 Bess. Only way around a filter like this is daisy chaining it.

They are doing it on the proxy server or at the firewall. There is nothing you can do about it at work. And if they have them set up right, they are also blocking the web proxy servers.

They are likely using something like websense to do it.
