I am a huge fan of portable solid state drives. When they first started coming out they replaced the flash drives I used to carry with me. There were two reasons for this, speed and capacity. Portable solid state drives are extremely fast which makes them perfect for data transfers, a portable game drive, and even and editing drive. They are also available in large capacities, which is great for these applications as well.
