Would someone be able to tell me how many IDE drives are supported by both of the boards please. Its because i have 2 IDE optical drives and an old IDE hard drive that id like to be connected up in the pc and im not sure whether either of these boards support 3 IDE drives.

No, they all have one IDE port. You could always use a PCI IDE adapter card if you need more though.

most of the giga's board's diff is among the number of hd ports you can use. a quick glance of at giga shows that the ud5 has a larger heatsink for the chip. Also, 2 network port on the back, two more sata ports.

WELL, they support teaming, which means you can basically using both of them together as a single network. This in theory doubles the bandwidth to 2gigabit. (think this is kind of liek raid of the hds, despite that it's not exactly the same). By having a larger bandwith, it may help with the data transfer. However, it won't help you with your download as it is often limited by the ISP. For practical use, I don't see any benefits of the teamign.

O that sounds quite good but it is only really something id use with the intent of getting a higher internet bandwith lol. So definatly not something id go for, plus i currently use wireless anyways lol. Only looking to go to the powerline networking sometime later lol. And even then they only have a single cable output lol.
