For over a year now I had to enter my BIOS and switch my IDE Controller from AHCI to Standard ATA (PATA emulation) whenever I wanted to go into Windows. Well it's getting annoyingly time consuming and my roommate hates it when he tries to let a friend play BF2 on my computer.

I have been looking for a way to install the ICH7R AHCI driver onto Windows XP Pro SP2 for a while now with no success. Everything I read says I can only install it at the Pre-Install stage with the F6 Floppy method. Is this true or is there a driver that I'm not finding on Intel's site that would allow me to install the AHCI drivers and boot up with that from now on?

I'm running a P5WD2 Premium, 955X, ICH7R motherboard.

I have the ICH8R controller and it's drivers have to be installed in the Windows PE (Preinstallation Environment). I would assume the same holds true for the drivers for your controller as well.
