Got an e-mail today from my ISP... Upload speeds were made 2.5x faster for the price I am paying... Now the rated speed is 30 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up (was 30/2).

Speak Easy shows a boost, but not that good...

http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

27975 down and 2716 up!! Cool

Used to be about 1750 up... I'll take it!

I'm jealous. Campus internet is a crappy shared T1 that gets me 1.5mbps down. What I would do for my comcast again...

My campus has dual T-3 lines, but they still have a damn dirty packet shaper. Most sites load nice and fast, but other services on other ports are slower than hell. That's why I setup a PTPP VPN from my server at ThePlanet to my desktop and laptop and once I added the special routes for that (anything not on port 80 and 443), I get full speed on everything (because the packet shaper can't "shape" encrypted data :-)).

#%&#!!!! I tried going to a wireless carrier that promised better speeds. BHAAA! When it work, the speed was great, when it didn't... dial up was faster. And the latency was always MUCH higher, as well as about 6 extra hops to any place on the net.

Don't even complain. Carroll College internet sucks... took the test, and I got 685 down, 69 up.

With those speeds, in his location I'm guessing he's got Verizon FiOS (FTTP)
