The old version 7.1 will be discontinued in January:

If you already have 7.1 installed, it will prompt you to upgrade.

do a repair install when it loads and it will save all your settings !

Maybe they have a random seed to notify you at a set time so their servers are swamped with downloads for the upgrade. In any case, my PC and my wife's lappy both popped up messages this last weekend about needed to upgrade.
