I actually just built a system for a friend and when I opened the case the heatsink looked something like that. Took some vacuum work.

Lol im preetty sure they can, my last and first system clean in about 3 years a few weeks back i had to peel a solid layer of filth and dust off my heatsink lol.

One would notice the extreme rise in temps and unexplained shut-offs, no? But I guess its colder in UK than in Asian countries such as ours...

:o we are currently getting nice warm temparatures at the minute lol, too hot in fact for my liking but hey. It didnt seem to affect me too much, only for a few weeks before it started dying.

Make sure you wear a mask when cleaning that!

Must be a smoker's house or a very polluted city. I noticed that smoker's computers get much much dirtier (the tar in cigarettes is very sticky and will glue dust together) and stink like hell - I usually don't even bother cleaning them, it's a waste of time.

Also cats can be evil. Smile

Or people with their computers anywhere near the laundry room. Lint seems to have heatsink seeking technology, and it brings dirt with it!
