I got a HIS 4870 for $165 less $10 MIR bringing the total to $155 and it included a free game. I haven't tried Crysis yet but it plays FC2 really well. My only complaint is the fan noise. You can't control the fan speed on this card through CCC so I plugged it into a fan controller to turn it down. The 4870s run really hot so make sure you have a well ventalated case if you decide to pick one up.

Today, when 4890 is out, even if its very overclockable, the 4870 seems to be the best deal!

The 4890 is more than worth its extra price if you're gaming on a large screen and a high res with a older 4870 with only 512 memory. .You'll notice a fairly large improvement in overall playability.

4890 is the best high-end (price performance)for that spec I think...but if your a little low on budget for a 4890, 4850 is still very good

The 4890 is the best single GPU card out there at the moment. It is highly overclockable, with many owners already getting over 1 gig on the stock GPU core. If you are on a large monitor it is very much worth the difference in price between it and a 4870. According to some other reports I have read, it also has the best edge detection on the market.

9800gt sonic does fine.. 1680 x 1050.. or maybe that's just the maximum resolution the plasma can give coz its not meant for pc? (just wondering)

but ati_lover was right, join the competition here.. a whooping 4850x2 is @ stake!..

with the prices fairly leveling or going down nowadays, a 1GB 9800 GTX may just be suitable for you. At the same time, future or upcoming games that are heavy on the graphics can be accommodated without having to need a new card.. this card is perhaps a "for keeps" high performance card...

In case you're question hasn't been answered yet, a HD4850 will run fine, a HD4870 will run superb. 512MB should be fine, but if you plan on going to higher resolutions you should get 1024MB. I'm not a fan o nVidia, but I'd guess a 9800GTX+ could do fine on that res.
