K, I'm decideing to go with a 3.2Ghz Dual-Core instead. Quad cores really don't seem like they will be worth it with the type of work (games) I'll be doing. I've dropped one of the Raptors and 2GB of RAM because of XPs problem with that much RAM.

Is that the new e8x00 series? I was looking at the quad cores and picked a dual core instead. Got the e6850 (3GHz, 1333MHz bus) and really like it!

I was actually looking towards this one http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16819103228

Like I said I'm an AMD fantard.

Though I am slightly confused about why these two are priced the way they are. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103191

yeah in a sense, the 5000+ Black Edition can usually reach around 3.2Ghz with just a minor increase in volts and upping the multiplier. I have one but I haven't really started messing with it yet other than upping the multi to 15 to run at 3Ghz without a sweat.

Damn. I just bought my first AMD CPU in years yesterday and I was wondering the same thing. A Black edition 5000+ was the same price as a 'regular' 5400+. I got the 5400+. $85 shipped wasn't bad, so I don't care.

well for 6 bucks more, I might as well go with the black edition.

I think I'm going to need to step up my power supply for this system though, I only have a 500 watt right now. And I also might need to get a better heat sink/fan. Hell, I might need to get more case fans and such even, cause the one I'm running only has 1x120mm and 1x80mm. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811144135

Any suggestions? It's been 3 years since I last upgraded and looked into computer parts so I'm a tiny bit out of the loop, and most people I Know are less knowledgeable than I am.

K, I'm adding one more fan to put near my HDDs and a better power supply because my last one wont have enough SATA power connectors, I think 700watt should be good enough. I've decided on two raided 7200rpm HDDS for the main instead of the Raptors. Now I just need to select the speakers I want to buy. Any suggestions on brands?

That OCZ PSU should be good.

Not really familiar with the case, but it seems decent.

What kind of speakers do you want? 5.1 or so? I have used the same Logitech set for about 5 years now and would check out their latest.
