I personally would leave the vid card alone, spend a few bucks kicking up to 2GB (it's by far the cheapest update), and save the rest for the next vid card update in 3-4 months.

That Step-Up program has to be used within 90 days of purchase of , doesn't it? I'm pretty sure the 7900 launch is 2 months old. Guessing you bought your 7800GTX well before that, since the 7900GTs were highly competitive with them for much less cash, and it would have been silly to blow $500+ on the GTX at that point. So are you sure you still qualify?

Anyway, a few months from now Conroe will be all over the place and you'll probably want to grab one of those sick overclockers. Especially since it seems you like to stay on top of the fastest gamer tech. One of the Conroes is going to start at a $200 price point. Gonna be hard to pass that up if they clock up to 3.2Ghz+ on air. I'd start saving for the new mobo and RAM right now. I know I am.

I just got a set of Gskill pc4000 2x1gb sticks for around $165 shipped. Running them at 3-4-4-8 at 270mhz. Really like them, it allows me to alt-tab out of any game or program with not crashes, and I can play BF2 properly for the first time since I bought it!

I'm sure you could sell your current ram and make this a cheap upgrade!
