Advice on a psu issue.

I have a gateway computer 2.6 pentium 4, 80 gb hard drive, dvd rw and 1 gb of ram. I want to get a new video card that requires a more powerful psu. The problem with that is that my case in the back says it's a micro atx medium case and my current psu says atx...here is a link to my current psu http://support.gateway.com/s//POWER/6500703/6500703nv.shtml
does this look atx or micro atx? I had also talked to a gateway rep who recommended this psu which is an atx (here is the link)
She said it would fit, but i still have some doubts...do you think this startech psu will fit in my micro atx medium case or is she just giving me bull?

They all appear to be standard sized ATX power supplies. So any one should fit just fine. Even if you went to the local computer store and picked up one it should be fine.

and under Power Supply Replacement please click number one (view picture) tell me if any psu will be able to latch on to this because i've seen some psu's that come with screws.

Oh... So there are no screws at the back of the case? Most PSUs use 4 screws to hold it to the back of the case. Just those two metal tabs and the green plastic clip?

That could be a problem. Might work... might take some modification to make it work!

Maybe a new case/psu combo would be easier.

will it be very hard to move my current hardware into a new case? and what kind of case should i look for?

p.s. the only screws on the back are 4 little screw surrounding the power cord right where it connects to the psu.

Ugh that is odd....doesn't look like just any power supply will fit Sad

Doesn't use a standard screw retention on the back!

I'd make sure you get the one the customer service rep said, and make sure of their return policy in case it doesn't work for you Sad

BB is right, a case swap would probably be easier to do. It's really not that difficult (assuming the motherboard uses a standard system for the area around the keyboard/mouse/lan/usb ports). Which by the looks of it, it doesn't...

will have some specs of my motherboard help you out to see if swapping a case would be easy to do?

Yes... sure. Hoping it is a standard ATX or microATX form factor. That way, finding a case/psu combo that will meet your needs should be easy... Well, except for picking from all the choices!
