On the manual that got sent with the cooler it didn't say to keep the backplate on, so i had the metal H bracket against the botom of the mobo. It doesn't look like anything is fried but that is what might have happend.

Anyways.. I took aay theThermaltake cooler and replaced it with the stock heatsink and reconnected everything. Now when i turn on the power the Light and the fan in the PSU will turn on for half a second ad then back off and the 4 LED status lights on the mobo turn on but it all shuts right back off. Any suggestions? Lemmie know. Thanks everyone you guys are awesome!! |
The problem your having NOW definately sounds like something is shorting out. Double check on your setup to make sure everthing is kosher there. If your computer is back in the tower, putting a piece of cardboard between the motherboard and the case works pretty well. Try reseating the RAM.
Another option you may want to try is only hooking up the essentials to see if your motherboard is POSTing correctly. Try only hooking up the gfx card, RAM, mobo/proccessor, and of course the power supply. |

The metal bracket on the heatsink was shorting something out on the back of the motherboard. I think he is good to go now. _________________ You can't drink all day unless you start in the morning. |
