The initial quote with 256mb ram is something I shun.
I find 512mb barely adequate for doing anything myself.
And for cheap systems for other people 512 is bare minimum unless more can be afforded.

As of Windows XP, 512mb has become my bare minimum requirement for any PC. Razz
1gb is always my personal bare requirement.

nice quotes tho. I did something similar right before xmas.

Note: That was a complete system, with fan controller, fans, case and psu (decent 350w thermaltake job as well).

Basically, a friend of mine was really, really desperate for cash, so he sold two complete rigs, a 450VA ups, 17" tft, logitech X-530 speakers and two 16 port switches to me for £750 cash.

Talk about simple, I cracked open the box, built machine and had windows installed, all in about 3 hours. Very impressive system for the cost.

SHe hasn't gotten the system yet, she is recovering from a bit of surgery and has no use for it yet.

The father-in-law is picking her up a 19" LCD this week and I'll dial her in this weekend.
