Rambus... what's that?

Laughing

Sorry man... I don't think they've sold Rambus systems since the early P4 days... You'd have to dig around for discontuined board. I wasn't able to even find any 478 motherboards that supported Rambus in some searchs of pricewatch, pricegrabber, and newegg.

Yup, same issue I've run into.

A friends motherboard went out, and he uses Rambus, so he's looking at replacing the MB as cheap as possible. Oh well, guess he'll have to replace more than that Smile

I looked on the geeks.com - nothing... but maybe something like that, or even eBay could be your only hope!

Most of the early P4's used RAMBUS memory. I've got a couple myself. You may want to look for one of these pc's at one of those computer trader stores which you can get pretty cheap and upgrade it.

My Kayak XU-800 server which is a Dual PIII rig also uses RAMBUS

Hi,
Yeah i've got a pretty expensive SuperMicro Dual Xeon Rambus Motherboard. only b!%@# is the ram for the sucker isn't cheap, 1 gig of Rambus (2x512) Ecc 800mhz is like $400-500 a stick and you need two to have a matched pair.

Went to www.pricewatch.com, clicked on motherboards, typed in '478' for the search term and about halfway down the page I found a chaintech socket 478 motherboard with an 845 chipset. That should do what you need and it was only $30.
