On the main pages, the navigation menu is currently on the upper left side of the screen, where many sites have it. But, with the layout the way it is, there is empty space above the Newegg banner... So, i thought of moving the navigation menu up there. What do you think?

Check out this page:

It shows both styles...

Personaly I like it along the left where it is now.

If you want to fill in the section at the top... maybe show some past reviews, or links to affiliates. You could link to some D/L pages.....

I went with the top, even with only a few votes. I like it personally... And I have ideas for the side bars of the main pages... Perhaps an area listing the lastest forum threads... I'm working on that tonight actually.

Got a test version up on the main page: http://www.bigbruin.com
Scrool down and look on the left... you should get the 10 most recent forum post titles with links to the threads... refinement ideas? I made it simple, although I could have bullets, dates, number of replies, last posters name...

It just doesn't show threads from any private forums, or from the site issues section... (by choice)

It looks fine...but I doubt I'll use it. Two clicks to the same (1.Forums, 2. View posts since last visit), without all the scrolling! And, I get all the info you mentioned.

true... not really for the regulars... but it may catch someone's eye reading a review... where most of the traffic is. I'll probably move it up to the top of the column, too...
