Looking for something that may not be feasible... But, I would like a broadband router with (at least a) 5 port Gigabit switch and a USB print server.
Seen any deals? Maybe 100 instead of 1000? Maybe no print server but still Gigabit? Mayeb more ports?

I could build you one of those crazy loonix routers and then you could throw a Gigabit switch behind that.
Or drop the switch and throw this into it.

I know they aren't a popular brand, but these Asante switches are really high quality. On the 10/100 ports they are as fast as my Cisco switches, and on the Gig ports they handle the load. |

Also, if your looking for a Wireless/Router/Firewall/Print Server check out this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833122025
The Netgear ProSafe series are more designed for the SMB market than the home market so they are much higher quality. |

Cool, but wireless isn't neceesary. I currently have a router, wireless router, and a switch. The problem is my main desktops connect to the switch, which then goes to the router.... Some random combo of ports and cables intermittently lose connection. It makes no sense, and I can't figure it out. So, I just want to replace everything with something better. Since I have Gigabit cards in 4 of 5 PCs, might as well go that route, and adding the USB printer to a dedicated server would be nice, so the printer sharing doesn't have to be enabled, as well as that one PC being on. |
