I got a spam message today that normally I would have deleted, but the subject line was interesting: 'MICROSOFT SENDS ILLEGAL SPAM [47 of 178]'. I thought to myself, Spam about Spam? This ought to be good...

Do you think this is legit? Keep in mind there are no actual links in the email...

Contents are as follows:
Quote:

Microsoft Employee Mike Lyman Speaks Out on Online Spam
Message Board NANAE & Mailing List SPAM-L on Microsoft Spam
___________________________________________________________

MICROSOFT IS ONE OF THE "GREATEST, MOST HATED INSTITUTIONAL SPAMMERS AROUND"

"I'm with one of the greatest, most hated institutional "spammers" around.
most people speaking officially for the company will go round and round
with you how we don't spam. Well, in the past it was not always obvious
that you were opting in, sometimes it still isn't obvious and our sign up
process still leaves a lot to be desired and is open to abuse."

FIRMLY ADMITTING THAT MICROSOFT IS A "SPAMHOUSE" AND SENDS OUT SPAM

"We are a spamhouse. Doesn't matter that we're Microsoft. Our legitimate,
unsolicited email is still just spam."

Sounds like some anit-microsoft person has a bug up their @ss.

You'd get spam even if you used Mozilla.

Look at the full headers and properties of the email for an originating IP address. Then us www.dnsstuff.com to quiry the IP to its origin.

I think it has more to do with their MSN/Network Marketing services - collecting info and email addresses. I don't think it has anything to do with browsers...
