Hi guys,

I have installed RAIDon a HP ML350 server, running windows server 2003.. On the same server is the accounting software runnig with its database.
I have created 3 partitions on the hard disk. I wanted to know that as data gets accumulated will the hard disk space of other drives be used or it will ask to change the path for the database once the current drive is full.

Because i heard that wen i install RAID all the space is taken as one and not three hard drives.. I have a problem here so i wanted u ppl to clear my doubt in this.

Waiting for reply from u all.

Regards

you'll have to change path when the partitions fill.

Even though RAID sees all the physical drives as one, the partioning makes a logical drive.

What version of RAID did you use? 0? 1? 3? 5?

Depends how you set it up.
Do you remember which type of RAID setup you used? RAID-0? 1? 5? JBOD?

Usually, the computer will see all of your drives as one big one. But since you setup a partition, each partition will fill seperately.

Need more info. on exactly what you did.

Hi guys,

First of all thanks for your replies. Smile
I have installed RAID 5 on the server with 3 hard drives. So what is the possible solution for the same. Do I have to change the drive letter? Is that the only solution left.

Please reply..
