Ok, I saw these two links for products on newegg, and was wondering if there is 2 formats out there for dual/double layer DVD's.

NEC Drive 1

NEC Drive 2

the model #'s are the same, though the descriptions and prices are slightly different.[/url]

I would say their the same, although I do not know if there are different formats available. One drive there is bulk / oem (the BLK one)... And one drive there is bulk / oem with software (the BLK SW one). With the SW one costing a few $$ more for the software inclusion.

It's the same drive, double and dual are the same thing.

Just to make sure here, I've seen both DVD+R9 and DVD+R DL on descriptions, the NEC's I used here were a good example since its the same company.

Only reason I'm asking is that I'm looking at a small upgrade soon, and wanted a matching drive that was dual layer to go with it, and as far as I knew, there wasn't any competing formats.
