What are the chances of my two Raptor drives still being a functioning bootable RAID 0 array if I switch from onboard SIL 3114 controller to a highpoint or Promise PCI card controller???

Or is this a silly question...

It should work........maybe Wink
if you have the card, try it, if not, consider a full backup and restore to freshly formated drives with the new array. that's the best way for best performance anyway.

I tried that this past weekend... It worked in my case! Went from a Promise fasttrask ATA100 card to a Silicon Image ATA133 card.

Well that sounds promising. I still think I'll plan for the worst and save everything.

Anyone else have any luck like BB?

Yea good luck. I've never done it except when changing cards for like cards. I guess it depends if the card can read the records that the other card writes on the drives.

Yeah - I didn't keep it that way for long, but it did boot to Windows. Then I wiped it clean for RAID 1.
