anyone use it with a tv tuner and actually allowed to watch TV on it?

Apparently (after some research on hauppauge's site) you need to have a MCE decoder to watch TV. (I am guessing its $$ after the fact).

so WTF do I need to watch TV on this "simple media center" software that should include everything for a HTPC?

Yes, MCE doesn't come with a decoder, you have to buy one. Nice of them. Was even nicer when I bought the PVR-150MCE and neither had it.

Yea, the additional cost is more irritating than it is a major problem. I mean if you're going to make something called "Media Center Edition" and hype all it's Mulit-Media capabilities and then NOT include a DVD/MPEG decoder is... well... Censored
