If I got an XBOX 360 Core System... Could I add a hard drive to it? Or do you have to buy the higher end system that already has a drive, in order to upgrade that drive?

Kinda want a 360, but with all the drives I have, why pay for another one... Laughing

I believe the 360 uses a 2.5" sata hard drive...there is a case enclosure that can probably be opened to replace the 20gb drive. or maybe you can find the drive caddy on ebay and use your drive.

I know you can add an external hdd via USB2.0 and access files that are already on the drive, but I'm not sure whether the Xbox 360 will actually use the external drive for additional storage.

No you can't use an external PC hard drive for saved games, demo game downloads etc. File systems are not compatible.
The 360 can only access music, videos and pics from a pc drive.
