after fixing the up2date app (had to reset channel) I did most updates with the excetption of a few. I didn't do much searching yet but figured I'd ask to see if anyone here has experienced the problem.
Attached are two screenshots for reference.
THANKS

IMHO, the GUI up2date program is more complicated than the text-based version. Use the up2date command t do your updating tasks, or just use yum (and take the kernel and stuff out of the excludes list ;-)). _________________ 5 home-built PCs, ASUS A6Jc Laptop, and a PowerEdge 2650 - all running Gentoo. I saw your thread BB but didn't see anything like I got. I will have to find concrete evidence that updating the kernel will 1) fix the problem and 2)not break my server, since it is a squid/jabber server which is always being accessed.
Monday sounds like a better day to start messing with it |

Meh - Just do it! You and your little sister can talk on the phone for the 10 minutes this might impact you...
I didn't post pics of these, but the exact same exceptions popped up as I was trying to run up2date. Digging around I saw the notice page (or whatever it is called) in up2date that said I had a different kernel on the system but not in use. Once I fixed that issue all items in up2date processed properly. |

According to your second screenshot, it's just not updating your kernel because it is in the package skip list. up2date -uf kernel-smp will fix your issue (or any kernel package you need). _________________ 5 home-built PCs, ASUS A6Jc Laptop, and a PowerEdge 2650 - all running Gentoo.
