after fixing the up2date app (had to reset channel) I did most updates with the excetption of a few. I didn't do much searching yet but figured I'd ask to see if anyone here has experienced the problem.

Attached are two screenshots for reference.

THANKS

That looks exactly like up2date errors I was getting when my kernel was not really installed! Check my other thread on forcing a kernel... Maybe your kernel is not complete, and perhaps it is more than just an isolated issue.

IMHO, the GUI up2date program is more complicated than the text-based version. Use the up2date command t do your updating tasks, or just use yum (and take the kernel and stuff out of the excludes list ;-)).

I saw your thread BB but didn't see anything like I got. I will have to find concrete evidence that updating the kernel will 1) fix the problem and 2)not break my server, since it is a squid/jabber server which is always being accessed.

Monday sounds like a better day to start messing with it Grin

Meh - Just do it! You and your little sister can talk on the phone for the 10 minutes this might impact you... Laughing

I didn't post pics of these, but the exact same exceptions popped up as I was trying to run up2date. Digging around I saw the notice page (or whatever it is called) in up2date that said I had a different kernel on the system but not in use. Once I fixed that issue all items in up2date processed properly.

According to your second screenshot, it's just not updating your kernel because it is in the package skip list. up2date -uf kernel-smp will fix your issue (or any kernel package you need).
