So I see a motherboard I wanted on PriceGrabber and Page Computers had the best price.
At the time of order their price was $129 and change... Now it is up to $159...
http://bigbruin.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=20222852/sort_type=bottomline
The shipping was also a shocker... See how it is listed as $35.99?!? That is their lowest option which is insane. So, I navigate the site and at checkout it is still $35.99, apparently not a mistake. A refresh changes it to $9.99 for Ground shipping... Kinda fishy, but now the total price is about $30-$40 less than anyone else and I go for it.
So I place an order, and about 2 hours later I get this e-mail:
Quote: | Thank you for placing your order with Page Computer.
Unfortunately, the product you requested AW8D , INTEL P4 LGA775 1066/ 800MHZ FSB INTEL 975X/ INTEL ICH7R EXPRESS is currently unavailable.
We try our best to fulfill your order as we appreciate your business, and your business makes our business successful. We were able to source out some stocks, but unfortunately, we could not serve you the items using the price indicated on the order as we are getting it from a non-regular vendor which is offering us the product at a much higher cost. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.
We will be giving you the item at a price of $166.53 including shipping which is equivalent to our warehouse cost. Though we are not making money out of your purchase, we are more than happy to ship your order at the new price. Selling you the item at cost is our way of expressing our heartfelt apology for the inconvenience the problem has caused. |
Excuse me? You will be giving it to me for $30 more than I agreed to? How is any of that my problem or remotely honest? Everyone else is selling them for about that much, and I hope someone is making money or all the stores I usually buy from will be out of business soon!
Also - I tried calling to cancel and of course no one answered and the voice mail is unable to accept messages!
Do not take a chance on Page Computers! |

Well - order was finally confirmed cancelled, and it doesn't look like any charges were made.
I then ordered from ZZF - and they shipped on Friday!
This board looks like it rocks... Since it is rare for boards to do RAID 5, I had to set myself up to use it! Easiest way was to buy a 200GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 to go with the two I already had. |
