AGP cards can fold. The numbers I've seen point to a very slight loss in production when compared to the same card in PCI-e, but there didn't seem to be much difference between AGP 4x or 8x.
Also,
512mb cards are preferred. The 256mb cards do work, but they can have screen lag issues if you are using your comp while running the gpu client. _________________

I just noticed a D840 system I thought was running two instances was just sitting at the BIOS screen with a hard disk error. Wonder how long it has been like that... |

Looks like my main folding machine stopped folding for some reason (I'm pretty sure I know why). My point production will be down for several days until I can get off the ship and get home to fire it back up again. In the meantime I am running two clients on my laptop as long as possible, but the weather has been pretty crappy this week so I frequently have to secure the laptop in a drawer to keep it from flying across the room when we take a good wave on our beam. _________________

OK guys, here you go. It's an open beta test, meaning I can talk about it all I want and everyone can use it.

WinSMP (32bit) Open Beta
If you are going to make the switch, it would probably be a good idea to finish your current work unit before switching. You can use the -oneunit flag to ensure that the client doesn't download another work unit when finished, then switch to the WinSMP client. It should be good for 1000 - 1700 points per day depending on the processor used. _________________

I apparently don't know that my machine has a password, and I can't get their install.bat to run... |

I had to add a password to my system to get the closed beta to work, so if your system doesn't have a password, you might try adding one. _________________

Well,
Looks like BB has discovered WinSMP client. I can tell by the 1760 point work units. _________________
