Yes, i build systems all the time. But i dont do anythering thats sub $1,500 in parts. Meaning I only do high-end systems.

If they just wana surf the net then i say call dell, gateway, etc.

If they want a gaming machine. With a nice SLI setup and 64bit processor etc. Ill do it. I am notorious for getting parts cheap. Gota advantage to being able to well con. Dont judge me.

it really jus depends what people want - for justa a basic machine for net surfing, word processing etc i'll either recommend them a prebuild after checking out whats avliable, or if they don't mind used and waiting a little bit, i'll get them a cheap machine off ebay. If a person wants something a little more special like a high end gamer/video cruncher or modded machine, then i'll build it for them.
modded machines are becoming more popular, however, i can get prebuilt modded systems now and sometimes it's just easier to get one of those than go through the hassle of building a machine.

I absolutely agree. All the eMachines I've seen for sale lately had a minimum of 256MB of ram, where is all the Dell's you had to upgrade from 128MB.

Plus Dell's tech support sucks and you have to get out your Star Trek Voice Convertor to get through the thick accents of the foreign call center.

ppl keep ripping on them yet they are ranked very high according to pc magazine on a survey they did eMachines tech support is actually ppl who speak our native language and youre on hold for less than a minute in peak hours (at least i was on several different occasions) so i like them overall.... they just had some problems in the past

My first computer was an eMachine. A celeron 400 with 64MB of RAM and a 6.4 Gig hard drive.

I liked it then Smile I could play Half-Life on it with the Geforce2MX that I bought for $100.
