Area depends greatly, according to the national average I'm well above "Normal" but in fact I'm a poor a$$ kid renting a room in a house because I can't afford my own because in my area houses start at $500,000. If I moved to indianna or whatever I could purchase a nice house and only have a 10yr loan to pay off.
