Ok, I have an 'old' Toshiba satellite Pro 4300 that has been working great for a few years, but over the summer I have noticed that it sometimes switches to power-saving mode (e.g. decreased CPU usage, monitor brightness, etc.) when it is left with the power adapter plugged in (and into a wall outlet) even when I am working with it. Anyone know what the problem is and how I could fix it?
There are also power settings on Toshiba laptops, usually found in the Control Panel. I'd suggest trying there and disabling any power saving features when your laptop is plugged in... _________________ - Jim

Another thing that causes "mobile" chips to slow down is heat (try the other stuff first) may require a disassemble/clean out the dust. also as the battery wears out, when it thinks it's fully charged it might change voltage, cause power-saver to kick in
well, the prob seemed to stop when I flipped out and back in the battery (which I may replace soon) and dusted the mobo, but I have not been using the laptop long enough to determine if this was the problem.
