replacing cd writer with dvd writer

I read the review on the Khypermedia DVD Burner and bought one.
I have been trying to install it to replace my existing CD burner.
My problem is that I cannot disconnect the power connector from the CD burner. ANY HELP?

Sometimes they get sort of welded in and it's REALLY hard to get them out without breaking something.

Grab it and wiggle it side to side, pull one side then the other, and see if that'll make it come out. If not, get a big screw driver and pry it or grab it with some pliers.

Yea what he said.... they just get stuck someones and you need to use some force.

I however never had to use a screw driver......

just make sure to pull on the plastic connector, not the wires (if possible)... Razz

Yeah, you pull the wires and you'll end up with a handfull of wires and a connector in your drive.

DON'T use a screwdriver! try wiggling it side to side it will eventually come loose.

A friend of mine suggested squeezing in the sides of the connector as you pull on it. That worked like a charm.

ya that was a good idea joe...
some of the latest power supplies do have "tabs" that need to be pushed in slightly.... The SilenX PSU we reviewed had the same sort of system....
