All HDD's are 8MB Cache, 7200 RPM
1 - NewEgg - Hitachi 120GB, 3 yr warranty, Average Seek Time: 8.5 ms $91.00 no rebate
2- Office Depot - Maxtor 200GB, 1 yr watanty, average seek time: 10 ms $119.97 - $20 MIR = $99.97
3 - Best Buy - Western Digital SE 120.0GB, 1yr warranty, average seek time: 8.9 ms $119.97 -$30 WD MIR -$30 BB MIR = $59.97
Hmmmmmmmmm..... Hitachi is faster, and longer warranty, WD is cheapest and 2nd fasted, Maxtor is biggest and slowest. |
Hi,
I'd normally say go for a Maxtor as their aftersales on warranty claims are second to none but the Western Digital from BestBuy sounds a really good buy!!.
Don't realise how lucky you are on the other side of the big pond getting rebates like that. Am envious now!!. Wish I lived over there to get rebates!!.
Rebates are unheard of here in the U.K.
Good luck!!. |

Hello,
Personally would recommend Maxtor however the Western Digital sounds a good buy.
Might be worth checking out which of these hard disks run the coolest and quietest if you want to use in a Small Form Factor PC.
Have fun!!.

Hi, Think you've ordered a good 'un. Just checked the spec' of an ST3200822A which at a guess is the one you've bought?. $102.09 cannot be bad!!. About £77.00 ($136.73) including shipping for the oem version over here. Do CompUSA sell this as an oem drive or a Retail Boxed one?. The Retail Boxed one's carry a better warranty if my memory is correct, is that right?.
Have a good day.
Best Regards.

It's the Boxed version. The warranty with Seagate is the same I belive (5 yrs). You just get some extra stuff in the box (cable, mounting brackets, etc..).... all of which I don't need. |
