The "third" pilot for trans-ocean flights is a "left seater" for his "everyday job". So yes lots of hours and there for relief and emergencies.

So it was a "non-issue" as far as safety is concerned but still a mystery as to how a "very healthy" person who had passed stringent physicals "just dies of an appearant heart attach". Sad for the family too.

It's a rough life, but someones got to do it Grin Off course there is the little pesky part that includes an average of 2-1/2 dockings per day at 16 different docks throughout a region dubbed "The cradle of storms". It's a small part of the day for sure, but as with airline pilots, you're only as good as your last landing. Wink
