Before you make any grand desisions, take a look at a certain Trade School right up there by you. http://www.perrytech.edu/
Perry technical Institute is in Yakima. They have an almost perfect placement record, doesn't kill the bank and was actually very much fun.
I went through almost 14 years ago myself and my company hired a group of 10 guys that just graduated... at 28.50 /hr!!!!
(Disclaimer - that is PRoK money, you must convert for american money)
These folks came right out of high school, went to Perry for 2 years and are making great money right away.
We all went through the Instrumentation and Industrial Electronics course, but they have others available.
One huge sort of undiscovered fields out there right now is industrial computing, setting up DCS systems, PLC's, programming and all the stuff necessary to run a mojor manufactring facility of any type. This field is no where near saturated.
Here is an example, our refinery is currently starting cnstruction on a major centralized control room... huge amount of work to be done and we can't find anyone to help out...
Our DCS techs start at a salary upwards of 65 to 70k.
Something to ponder... |
