Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the "death of my harddrive." For about a week now the computer has been making this sound (usually on cold boot in the mornings) I didn't think much of it because I thought it was my DVD-ROM (a cd getting stuck inside or something...) Today when it happend I quickly opened the case to find out the culrprit was the top drive in my RAID-0 setup =(. It sounds like its damn near close to death... A few days ago the RAID controller didnt detect the disks until I manually rebooted.
I've had the 2 drives for a little over a year (both purchased from newegg). 2x 60GB Maxtor D740X, ATA133 7200RPM 2MB Cache (in RAID-0 striping).
Not dying, DEAD. I'd suggest filling out an RMA promptly (or picking up two Barracuda 7200.2s). _________________ Due to a not-that-interesting turn of events, I am now known as Justin Danger.

But, three lefts do!!
well im ok so far -- its not "dead" yet, just making excessive noise. i'm grabbing all my data off the array as we speak.... if it dies in the process though i'll be sure to give the freezer a try. _________________ - Jim
Using to cans of compressed air on the controller of a dying HDD let me get a full drive image of it one time.... _________________ Due to a not-that-interesting turn of events, I am now known as Justin Danger.
